I worked for 17 years in the cabinet industry, including 13 years with On The Level Custom Cabinets in Vancouver WA. In July of 2011 I left the cabinet world and began the Resident Mastery Program at the Northwest Woodworking Studio with Gary Rogowski, located in the Central Eastside Industrial District of southeast Portland, Oregon. The program, now called the Resident Mentoring Program, is a nine-month full-time exploration in the design and building of fine furniture.
I’ve been married to my wife Carolyn for over 20 years, and we have lived in southwest Washington State for almost all of that time. We enjoy hiking and mountain-biking and photography, among other things. My wife teaches quilting to young people, out of our home; check out her work on her website Sew On and Sew Forth.
We love to travel to National Parks across the U.S. and indulge our passions for hiking and photographing beautiful scenery. Check out some pictures of the scenery we have enjoyed on my Inspirations Page, and see some of what inspires my woodworking designs!
One of the projects I completed at NWS is a hall table entitled “Leaves In The Wind”, in Cherry and local Bigleaf Maple, with exotic-wood inlaid leaves. This table won Best of Show and Best in Category at the Battle Ground Art Alliance 2012 Spring Show and Sale. My table and other winners were featured in the Columbian Newspaper in an article by Dave Kern.
